The design on this blanket is inspired by a 15th-16th century tile from St. George’s Church in Fordington, Dorchester, England.
Even though this blanket has a huge visual impact, it uses only very basic techniques. It’s ideal for knitters nervous about doing anything “advanced”! Mosaic knitting makes colourwork easy; and garter stitch means the blanket lies flat without needing a border. It’s also super thick and squishy - perfect for cuddling babies!
Skills required
The basics of mosaic knitting are included in the pattern instructions.
On larger needle (or size needed to get gauge), 12 sts and 26 rows (13 chart rows) to 4” in mosaic knitting chart pattern, after blocking
Sizing
One size: approximately 40" x 40"
